BRAVO
Such a gorgeous performance, marred a bit by recording volume issues. The overall recording volume is too low and requires cranking up the volume to hear quieter passages, but once cranked the fortissimo passages are the much too loud. Requires constant adjusting of balance, particularly given Prokofiev's love of contrasting volumes. Bravo to all the performers.
At 1:01:02 we see and hear a perfectly played timpani roll with a stinger at the very end of the massive roll. BRAVO to this fine timpanist
Thankyou for a great programme, beautifully played.
This is my favourite interpretation!❤🎻 love 39:26 🥰 Ray Chen😍
Muchas Gracias Maestro

Vasily Petrenko is certainly one of the best of the younger generation of conductors. I’m disappointed that I can’t get tickets for his sold out appearance at this year’s (2024) Proms @ RAH/London as he’s conducting the RPO in Tchaikovsky’s symphonic poem, Francesca de Rimini, one of my favourite works from the Russian master.
Go to 1 hr 24 minutes for the start of it.

How does he do this? He shows no signs of nervousness. Id be nervous even if i was playing a seitz concerto
I've really enjoyed the Berlin Philharmonic app. Its worth the monthly subscription price as there are so many wonderful performances and documentary films..I appreciated Simon Rattle and his contribution to great music 🎶
This song touches the hearts of Australians more than the current national anthem.
Brand new Piano Concerto No 2! With various styles such as Romantic, musical theatre, early Modern, Baroque pastiche, fugue, and even a rhumba! Hope to lift your Spring spirits ruclips.net/video/0wUWfXRbVV8/видео.html Thanks!
Tremendous, thank you.
I watch all the bites in my music
Always a conundrum: is it Gerontius as in Gerald or Gerontius as in Gertrude. SIR !! Andrew Davis says both. I´ll stick to Gerald for now. 🙃
Lots of good vibes !!!!
Excellent.❤.
Absolutely enjoyed every moment!
is it just me who thinks that ray's tone quality has worsened (especially for tchaikovsky)? When we compare this recording to the one where he broke his string back in seattle, there's a MASSIVE tone downgrade despite how he used a stradivarius for this one.
I think he got a little to comfortable with performing, literally throwing himself onto the violin. Tchaikovsky's violin concerto is very sensitive to this and easy to mess up.
its just you buddy.
@@guillaumepolack7598 It's not just him.
Breathtaking performance . Ray is in tremendous form !
Simon voice❤ love you so much❤
A pure joy of being the master of his craft clearly shows in all he does.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Even though I am not the target audience, I found this very fun and insightful. Thank you!
😂 Beautifully put together ❤❤
OK but Ray you ARE mic'd right on your collar so everything YOU play sounds different than the guy. Now, to quote Brian May of Queen "Playing live [with Adam Lambert] is exciting and dangerous." What he's identifing is they are INHIBITED.
Too tight and exaggerated, almost parodic...
Why throw yourself/violin around like that 33:54, at detriment to the sound quality.
That was magnificent! Love the nerdtastic comparative analysis between Tchaikovsky's violin concerto, Ray's life journey...and video games of 3rd person to 1st person. (--______--)!!!!
Ray Chen's interpretation of Tchaikovsky is a rock star performance.
is there a full orchestra version of this song?
i almost hung myself having to wait so long for that ad to finish! 5 whole second!

May SIR AD's SOUL REST IN PEACE.. 🙏🥇👍💐⚫
Fascinating, Sir Simon is a very intelligent gentleman.
calmest day in stravinsky's head

Basson is rare in konoha 🇮🇩 but is one of most beautiful instrument 😢
40:15 the start of the clip of him breaking the string
I guess I compare everything against Karolina Protsenko especially when she is in her classical mode. She grew from the age of nine as a street performer and so had to please the audience to make a living. She made movement, appearance and audience contact a part of the show. She probably sacrificed the perfect playing position in order to give an entertaining performance. The distinguishing differences I see in her is that she shows passion for the music, she is confident, fearless, she plays to the audience and wants them involved, she brings emotional depth to the piece and she plays with abandon. You can see it on her face and body. When she went through a master class with Ray Chen (video online) you could see the difference in response from her versus these talented folks here. Chen is a good example of that himself. He brings intensity to the piece like no other. I suppose I'm watching this video because of Karolina. By the end of this day, I suspect Karolina will have gotten at least 100,000 views across all the media where she is shown, probably a lot more. It's good for her, it's great for the violin and it's especially great for orchestral music. The description on this video says "Ray Chen is a violinist who redefines what it is to be a classical musician in the 21st Century." I think that's true, if the musicians cooperate and the public can participate in the experience. One thing she proves is that the violin is not only a classical experience it can be just as much or more when played in contemporary music.
everyone’s talking about Ray’s Tchaik but MSO’s Rach is so good 😭
BRAVO !
okay
it's beautfuul
thankyou so much
are you wlcome
I’m a big fan of Ray, but… is everything okay with the first move in 32:18? Like a bit out of tune, no?😢
no.
